Enterprise Project Management
Managing a portfolio of projects requires different skills and different tools than managing a single project. In this section, we’ll demonstrate the advantages of tying Project Server to your TFS implementation, including resource management, time tracking and tools to help manage your portfolio.
SharePoint Development
SharePoint development has traditionally been done in an ad-hoc fashion. In this section, we’ll pull SharePoint into the full ALM lifecycle, to include testing, promotion strategies and controlled deployment. We’ll discuss the end to end lifecycle including feature creation, building deployment packages, testing and automated deployment.
SQL Server Development
In far too many cases, database development happens outside a structured process, resulting in diverging database schemas, important changes overwritten in production, inability to roll back to prior versions and inability to trace database changes to features. In this section, we’ll show how to do database development correctly – within an overall lifecycle. We’ll highlight the powerful database features of Visual Studio 2010, manage a changing database schema safely, and integrate database deployment into our daily builds.
System Center Integration
Just because an application is deployed, doesn’t mean the development team is done. In addition to bug fixes and feature updates, developers need to be aware of the maintenance impact of their creation. In this session, we’ll demonstrate the integration of System Center with Team Foundation Server, to include the TFS Management Pack, and working with Team Foundation Server work items using the Orchestrator Integration Pack.
