Spam is defined as “unsolicited, anonymous, and commercial mass messages”. Spam originated via email in the early eighties and since then it has evolved into what we know as spam today. Spam is changing and adopting itself with new technology.

Earlier spam only resided in the emails, but now spam can be found on the Internet (i.e. web spam), Search Engines (i.e. Spamdexing), Web 2.0 applications like Discussion Forums, Blogs, Wikis, Social Networks (i.e. Spam 2.0) and even in IP Telephony and Chat Messengers.

Spam is not just a nuisance: it is used with criminal intent to perpetrate fraud (various scams and phishing attacks), to attack websites of national security organisations, banks and other institutions, and to corrupt or confuse web searches by legitimate users. It has significant socio-economic implications.

CEAS 2011 aims to establish a platform for discussing the challenges raised by the infiltration of spam in Email, Web 2.0, IP Telephony and the likes. We are interested in papers, work-in-progress reports, and industrial experiences describing advances in all areas of anti spam, anti-fraud, security, trust, cyber crime, spam economics.
