SSWUG and SolidQ In-Person Training: In-Person Training: Microsoft BI Bootcamp on SQL Server 2008 R2 and Office 2010In a partnership agreement between SSWUG.ORG and SolidQ, a five-day in-person class with hands-on labs on Microsoft’s Business Intelligence stack will be offered on Feb. 13-17 in San Francisco for students who want to deliver state-of-the-art, integrated reporting and analytics solutions.

Peter Myers, course instructor and Microsoft MVP, will show students how integrated BI tools can create effective solutions to find meaningful patterns in the vast sea of data that is collected by organizations. He will also explain how to to use that insight to quickly respond to changing business conditions, as well as how to position different types of Business Intelligence solutions, such as enterprise data warehousing, data marts and real-time operational reporting.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

- Use Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 to build and manage data marts which provide a consolidated view of organizational data

- Use dimensional modeling techniques and Visio 2010 database modeling tools to create data models in SQL Server 2008 R2 for hosting consolidated BI information

- Build consolidated data marts using SQL Server 2008 R2 Integration Services to extract, transform, and load business-critical information into SQL Server 2008 R2 databases from disparate sources such as business applications and corporate databases

- Use SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services to create a Unified Dimensional Model (cube) that simplifies analytical access to business-critical data, and how to publish and collaborate on findings using SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services and SharePoint 2010 Excel Services

- Use SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services to develop predefined and ad hoc relational reports that simplify access to business-critical information

- Use SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services to create data mining models that explore, discover and predict patterns

- Use PowerPivot to load and prepare disparate data sources, and produce rich and responsive reports

- Share PowerPivot reports in SharePoint 2010

- Use SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services to provide integrated performance management solutions with scorecard and analysis functionality

- Build custom dashboards in SharePoint 2010 that expose business-critical information in compelling ways

- Use ProClarity Desktop Professional for advanced data analysis and visualization
