Advanced Partitioning with Martin Jensen (DE)

Dusseldorf, Germany

Advanced Partitioning with Martin Jensen (DE) logoAt first sight table-partitioning seems very simple, but when an actual table needs to be partitioned, a number of alternative strategies may be used, with different consequences on performance, availability, backup and restore.

This seminar will discuss and show some of the more difficult aspects of partitioning – hard to locate in the manuals. We will show you how to change existing database tables to be partitioned, how read-consistency works together with exchange-partition, various special cases from new partition possibilities in 11g, block-compression, and how Materialized views may benefit from partitioning. Oracle Essbase 11.x – New Features with Ron Moore, 14-15 June 2010, London

Oracle University Training Centre
London, UK

Review and explain the most important new features in Oracle Essbase 11.x.

Day-1 focuses on features of interest to developers. These new features open up a new range of design options. New features such as ASO as the target of a partition help improve performance. Text and Date Measures and Varying Attributes allow developers to build new types of structures that overcome modeling challenges that were previously difficult to address. For example, Varying Attributes help model dimensional relationships that change over time. Essbase Studio and XOLAP allow tighter integration between Essbase and relational databases. Cubes can be built much faster. Dimensions and hierarchies can be shared and you can drill through to the underlying relational data in new ways. Read more »
